Garrett Hall prevails in 100-lap
Super Late Model race at OPS,
Gets final guaranteed starting
spot in Oxford 250 Sunday
Oxford, Maine - Garrett Hall of Scarborough earned the final guaranteed starting position up for grabs in this year's 44th Annual Scott's Recreation Oxford 250 with a 100-lap victory in the first-ever Granite State Pro Stock Series event contested at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Hall, a multi-race Pro All Stars Series winner last season, battled Windham's Bobby Timmons and Sebago's Derek Kneeland for the early lead, and then held off popular Super Late Model rookie Gabe Brown of Center Conway, New Hampshire to claim victory.

Brown, 14, was the runner-up, claiming his third straight podium finish in a Super Late Model at Oxford Plains Speedway in just his fifth stock car race. Bryan Kruczek of Newmarket, New Hampshire raced hard up front with both Hall and Brown before settling for a third-place finish.

Justin Drake of Burnham passed a ton of cars to finish in fourth place. Early leader Timmons beat out DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire for the final top-five finishing position. Tenth-place finisher Mike O'Sullivan of Springfield, Massachusetts was the top-finishing Granite State Pro Stock regular, also earning a conditional spot in the Scott's Recreation Oxford 250.

Ben Tinker of New Gloucester broke a mild dry spell with an impressive, 40-lap triumph in the PASS Mods class. Tinker, who won the first five PASS Mod races this season, grabbed three lesser trophies before nailing down win number six on the season Saturday night.

Popular Windham racer Matty Sanborn led the first 25 laps before Tinker went by. Sanborn then held off former division champion Scott Alexander of Glenburn to earn the second-place trophy. Conway, New Hampshire's Mark Lundblad, Jr. was fourth, followed by Steve Dickey, Jr. of Milford, New Hampshire.

Tyler King dominated the action in the 30-lap Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stock main event, winning on the second consecutive night on Scott's Recreation Oxford 250 Weekend. For the second straight night, Lisbon's Rick Spaulding led the laps that King didn't, earning runner-up honors Saturday after finishing up third on Friday night.

King and Spaulding were chased under the checkered flag by Kurt Hewins of Leeds, championship points leader Billy Childs, Jr. of Leeds and Green's Andrew Breton. King will try for the Oxford 250 sweep in the Street Stock class at Sunday afternoon's Scott's Recreation Oxford250 presented by Fastway Trailer Products.

Austin Teras of Windham won yet another Legends Cars main event, out battling teammate Trevor Sanborn of Parsonsfield to earn this trip to victory lane. Trenton Goodrow of Carver earned a third-place finish, ahead of Buxton's Colby Meserve and Jake Matheson of Hillsboro, New Hampshire.

Maine Racing Hall of Famer Jon Lizotte of Lewiston outran the competition throughout the 15-lap Figure 8 race. Lizotte, 67, outran the slightly younger Davis Smith of South Paris to the checkered flag. Kyle Kilgore was third, the only racer too young for an AARP card on the podium. Tommy Tompkins of Carthage and Minot's Eric Hodgkins rounded out the top five.

Scott Grant of Waterboro raced to victory aboard his 1970 Chevy Nova in the Wicked Good Vintage Racing Association Outlaw race. Sid Smith of Mount Vernon claimed runner-up honors, ahead of Winthrop's Scott Tucker, who led most of the race. Arthur Hannaford of Hollis and Dave Alexander from Standish completed the top-five rundown.

Mark Theriault of Rumford dominated the Wicked Good Late Model race. Freeport's Neil Martin was second in his popular Al Hammond tribute car. Bobby Symonds of Casco, Duane Dunifer of Hermon and Detroit's Reggie Trask rounded out the top five.

Andy Hill of Waterford, Vermont won the 20-lap Northeast Classic Lites race. Duane Skofield of Plaistow, New Hampshire was the runner-up, in front of Carl Hewins, Stew McCormack and Robbie Bryant.

Racing action at Oxford Plains Speedway resumes on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., with the $25,000-plus-to-win, 44th annual Oxford 250, sponsored by Scott's Recreation and Fastway Trailer Products. For more information please visit oxfordplains.com or call (207) 539-8865.
