Spencer Takes Home his
First Win
of the Season at Oxford Plains |
Dennis Spencer Jr of Oxford took home the win in
the Super Late Models this past weekend. Spencer broke a
4 year winless streak. His last win at Oxford was in May
of 2017.
Larry Lizotte of Poland won his 2nd
Aroma Joe's Figure 8s feature of the season. Lizotte
took the early lead and led all 15 laps. Dale Lawrence
of Minot and Mark Turner of Norway finished 2nd and 3rd
respectively.
Maddy Herrick of Otisfield picked
up her 4th win of the season in the ATA Piping Inc
Rookies. Herrick led all 15 laps after taking the lead
before lap 1 was complete. The first red flag of the
season occurred during lap 2 when Keyra Robertson drove
into a spun-out Liz Newton. Both drivers were okay but
were unable to continue the race. On the restart Karson
Hewins challenged Herrick for the lead. Hewins of Oxford
eventually fell back and ended up getting an impressive
2nd place finish, Samuel Wardwell of Cape Elizabeth
rounded out the top 3.
Luke Mowatt of Norway
finally got the monkey off his back and won his first
feature of the season in the Cooley's Comercial Bandits
after being plagued with bad luck for a few races. Luke
Mowatt took the early lead while his brother Alex Mowatt
was going three wide with Eric Parlin and Brandon Caston
to take over 2nd place. Caston took over 3rd on lap 4.
After a caution on lap 6 L. Mowatt continued his lead
and ended up leading the rest of the 20 laps. Alex
Mowatt of Norway settled for 2nd place while Brandon
Caston of Casco finished the race in 3rd place.
Richard Spaulding of Lisbon captured his first win of
the season in the Limited Late Models. Spaulding took
the early lead before being passed by an ever fast Shawn
Knight on lap 4. Jordan Russell moved up to race
Spaulding and they spent most of the race battling for
2nd until Knight fell off the pace on lap 24 leaving
Spaulding to become the leader once again. Jordan
Russell of Norway ended up settling for 2nd place while
Joe Hutter of Hebron picked up a solid 3rd place finish.
Kyle Desouza took the early lead in the Spencer
Paving Group Super Late Models before a caution on lap
6. On the restart Calvin Rose Jr. took over the lead as
Desouza slid back to 2nd in front of Dennis Spencer.
Spencer passed both Desouza and Rose for the lead on lap
26. Desouza took back 2nd from Rose on lap 38. Dave
Farrington and Curtis Gerry made their way all the way
up the field to take over 2nd and 3rd during the closing
laps. Dennis Spencer J.r led the rest of the 50 lap
feature while Dave Farrington Jr. of Sabattus finished
in 2nd with Curtis Gerry of Waterboro rounding out the
top 3.
Other winners were Norm Judkins in the
Wicked Good Vintage Early Late Models and Kevin Sherman
in the Wicked Good Vintage Outlaws.
The Oxford
Championship Series continues next week on Saturday, May
29th at 7:00 PM. Also don't miss Motor Mayhem #1 with
the Oxford Acceleration Series on Memorial Day May 31
