Travis Benjamin Wins His First
2021 SLM Feature at Oxford
Three-time Oxford 250 winner, Travis Benjamin of Morrill topped the field in the Super Late Models this past weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway to pick up his first win of the season.

Greg Durgin of Norway claimed his first career win in the Aroma Joe's Figure 8s. After a caution on lap 1 Durgin took the lead on the restart and led the rest of the 15 lap feature. Eric Hodgkins of Winthrop finished in 2nd with Mark Turner of Norway picking up 3rd.

Jeremy Turner of Norway won his 2nd ATA Piping Inc. Rookies feature of the season. Turner took the lead before lap 1 was complete. He led the rest of the feature with Maddy Herrick of Otisfield taking home 2nd and Samuel Wardwell of Cape Elizabeth finishing 3rd.

Luke Mowatt of Norway picked up his 2nd win in a row during the Cooley's Comercial Tire's Bandits. Josh Lovell took the early lead with Nick Wilson behind him in 2nd and Alex Mowatt and Jeff Libby battling it out for 3rd. A.Mowatt, Libby, and Wilson went 3 wide on lap 5. Libby took over 2nd and the Mowatt brothers raced each other for 3rd. They went 3 wide again passing again and L.Mowatt took the lead from Lovell on lap 6. After a caution on lap 9 ,L.Mowatt kept the lead, A.Mowatt moved into 2nd with Lovell and Libby racing each other for 3rd. Jake Hall made his way through the field and took over 3rd place on lap 17. Luke Mowatt held off his brother Alex Mowatt also of Norway to win the race. Jake Hall of Oxford rounded out the top 3.

Jordan Russell of Norway captured his 3rd feature win in the Limited Late Models.Russell took the early lead with Shawn Knight in 2nd and Skip Tripp in 3rd. Richard Spaulding and Tripp made contact a few times before Spaulding spun on lap 11 bringing out a caution. Spaulding took over 3rd place on the restart and Tripp ended up pulling it down pit road ending his night early. Shawn Knight of South Paris spent most of the feature chasing down Russell but settled for a 2nd place finish in front of last week's winner Richard Spaulding of Lisbon who took home 3rd place.

Calvin Rose Jr. led the first lap of the Spencer Paving Group Super Late Models before a caution came out. Ryan Deane and Scott Robbins made contact on the backstretch ending both of their nights. On the restart Travis Benjamin took the lead and pulled away from the field. Rose fell to 2nd in front of Kyle Desouza. After 2 more cautions on laps 10 and 11, Benjamin still held on to the lead. Dave Farrington Jr. went 3 wide with Desouza and TJ Brackett on lap 18 to take over 3rd place. A few laps later Farrington passed Rose for 2nd. Farrington of Sabattus remained in 2nd the rest of the 50 lap race while Kyle Desouza of Auburn passed Rose in the final laps to get 3rd place.

The Oxford Acceleration Series will be joining the The Oxford Championship Series next Saturday evening  June 5th with a start time of 5:00 PM.
