Cookson Dominates Opening Day
at Oxford Plains Speedway
Max Cookson picked up right where he left off last season winning the first Super Late Model feature of the season at Oxford. Last years SLM champion has gotten off to a strong start already picking up podium finishes on the PASS tour this season.

Third generation driver Karson Hewins took home his first win of the season in the ATA Piping Inc Rookies feature. Hewins led all 15 laps. Tyler Connolly finished 2nd his first time out in the class with Jaxson Morside rounding out the top 3.

Tucker Haskell won his first KHM/Floor Solutions Thunder Stocks feature of the season. Kyle Glover led most of the feature with Dennis Tufts behind him in 2nd. Late in the race Tufts and Glover made contact and fell back. Haskell took the lead and led the rest of the feature. Charlie Hall finished in 2nd place with Dennis Tufts finishing in 3rd.

Greg Durgin picked up the win in the Aroma Joe's Figure 8s. It was quite the crazy race. Five cars started but only three ended up finishing after Larry Lizotte had issues early and Terry Kirk got hit in the X. Scott Merrill and Jeff Heaward both came out unscathed finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Jordan Russell dominated in the Richard Spaulding Roofing Street Stocks to win his first of the season. Billy Childs Jr. took home 2nd place with Cam Childs finishing in 3rd place.

Nathan Barth topped the field in the Cooley's Commercial Tires Mad Bombers. Ed Johnson took the early lead but after a red flag restart on lap 3, Barth began making his move. Barth moved to the outside of Johnson on lap 7 and took the lead on the following lap. Barth led the rest of the 20 lap feature. Ed Johnson settled for 2nd place with Tyler Jalbert picking up a solid 3rd place finish in his race in the division.

Dave Farrington took the early lead in the Bessey Motors Super Late Model feature but a lap later a caution came out, a spin collecting many cars at the back of the 32 car field. Jeremie Whorff took the lead on the restart and Max Cookson moved into 2nd. Whorff had a solid lead over Cookson until another caution came out on lap 6. Cookson took the lead shortly after the restart and began lapping the field. Whorff almost caught up to him when Cookson got caught behind lap traffic on lap 40. Unfortunately for Whorff another caution came out on lap 46 that helped Cookson pull completely away to win the feature. Brandon Barker ended up finishing 2nd with Jeremie Whorff settling for 3rd.

Come on out next Sunday 4/30 for the rescheduled PASS events combined with most of the Oxford Championship Series race groups starting at 1:30 PM.
