Ryan, OPS win national award
OXFORD, Maine - Oxford Plains Speedway and owner Bill Ryan were
presented with a national award during recent SpeedWeek activities
in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Racing Promotion Monthly (RPM)
singled out Ryan and OPS for outstanding continuing operations. Ryan
received an award from the same organization in 2000 for his efforts
in reviving the proud tradition at Oxford.
“It is always nice to be honored by
your peers in any industry, because they are the people who share
the same goals for their organization and fight many of the same
battles that you do,” Ryan said. “In the case of the RPM awards,
they are very much a team accomplishment. This latest recognition is
for our product week-in and week-out, and just as much of the credit
for that goes to our fans, competitors and officials.”
RPM is a newsletter distributed
primarily to race track owners and promoters. Ryan’s award is one
of several workshops achievement awards that are nominated by RPM
readers and selected by the group each year.
“We recognize primarily dedication
to race promotion, for individuals, and outstanding continuing
operations for tracks,” said RPM editor Stewart Doty. “ We have
two purposes with the awards: To call attention to those deserving,
and to recognize them in front of peers.”.
