HANDICAPPING PROCEDURES

OXFORD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
1. Each Oxford Championship Series (OCS) driver will be assigned a handicap based on the number of points accumulated to date divided by the number of times the driver has registered at the pit gate. For instance, if Driver A has 420 points in 12 appearances, his handicap would be 35.0.

2. The starting lineup for the first points race of the season in each division will be determined by blind draw when drivers sign in at the pit gate. The starting lineup for all other OCS features and heat races will be determined in inverse order of driver handicap.

3. A driver who did not achieve a handicap in his current division last season or does not register to race Opening Day will be required to start at the rear of the feature lineup for two (2) weeks before earning a handicap.

4. A driver who does not make an appearance at any OCS program will be required to start at the rear of the feature lineup for the next race program. A driver will ONLY be credited with an official appearance if he: a) signs in at the pit gate; b) makes a practice attempt and/or is officially posted in the starting lineup; and c) competes at least in his regularly scheduled heat OR officially reports a specific mechanical failure to the pit tower.

5. Drivers who miss a week or more and must start at the back of their heat lineup will be assigned to either of the qualifying races according to their handicap average.

6. A driver receiving no points in a feature race due to any disciplinary reason (per the race director or technical inspection team) will be required to start at the rear of the heat and feature lineup in the next race program. He also will be assigned 55 points toward his handicap factor for the remainder of the season. For example, if a driver has 300 points in 8 starts with one disqualification, his handicap would be calculated: 355/9=39.44. For the second such offense, a driver will be required to start at the rear of the heat and feature lineup in the next two (2) race programs. For the third offense, a driver will be required to start at the rear three (3) weeks, and so on.

7. The winner of the most recent feature race(s) in each division will be required to start at the rear of the lineup for the next feature event and heat race. He/she will be permitted to start ahead of anyone else assigned to the rear due to inactivity or other disciplinary action.

8. Handicaps are recalculated after every feature race, including TD Bank 250 weekend. The only exception will be any double feature nights caused by weather or other unforeseen events. In that instance, the handicaps will stay the same throughout the night. The winner of the first feature will be assigned to the rear.

9. A driver not signing in within thirty (30) minutes of the scheduled starting time of a race program will be assigned to the rear of the feature lineup. No exceptions.

10. A driver will be eligible for the Rookie of the Year program if he has never competed in five (5) or more races in his current division or a higher division in a single race season at Oxford Plains Speedway or any other track.

11. Changes or exceptions to the handicap system may be made by Oxford Plains Speedway management or the race director at any time in the interest of fair, equitable competition.

OXFORD ACCELERATION SERIES
1. Each Oxford Acceleration Series (OAS) driver will be assigned a handicap based on the number of points accumulated to date.

2. The starting lineup for the first points race of the season in each division will be determined by blind draw when drivers sign in at the pit gate. The starting lineup for all other OAS features will be determined in inverse order of driver handicap.

3. Handicaps for Wednesday and Saturday night races are based on separate point systems.

4. A driver who did not achieve a handicap in his/her current division last season or does not register to race Opening Day will be required to start at the rear of the feature lineup for one (1) week before earning a handicap.

5. A driver who does not make an appearance at any OAS program will be required to start at the rear of the feature lineup for the next race program. A driver will ONLY be credited with an official appearance if he/she: a) signs in at the pit gate; b) makes a practice attempt and/or is officially posted in the starting lineup; and c) competes in his/her regularly scheduled feature event OR officially reports a specific mechanical failure to the pit tower.

6. A driver receiving no points in a feature race due to any disciplinary reason (per the race director or technical inspection team) will be required to start at the rear of the feature lineup in the next race program. He or she will be assigned 55 points against his/her handicap for the remainder of the season. For the second such offense, a driver will be required to start at the rear of the feature lineup in the next two (2) race programs. For the third offense, a driver will be required to start at the rear three (3) weeks, and so on.

7. The winner of the most recent feature race(s) in each division will be required to start at the rear of the high-point lineup for the next feature event. He/she will be permitted to start ahead of anyone else assigned to the rear due to inactivity or other disciplinary action.

8. Handicaps are recalculated after every feature race. The only exception will be any double feature nights caused by weather or other unforeseen events. In that instance, the handicaps will stay the same throughout the night with the winner of the first feature being placed on the rear of the second feature.

11. The lineup for the Oxford Acceleration Series Showdown will be determined by blind draw when drivers sign in at the pit gate. ONLY drivers who are eligible for the OAS will be allowed to compete in the Showdown.

12. Changes or exceptions to the handicap system may be made by Oxford Plains Speedway management or the race director at any time in the interest of fair, equitable competition.
