NORTH EAST MINI STOCK TOUR
Glen Luce wins Super Late Model
race at Oxford Plains Speedway
Oxford, ME - Glen Luce of Turner led all 50 laps in Saturday night's Budweiser Championship Series Super Late Model main event at Oxford Plains Speedway, scoring his first triumph of the 2019 racing season. Several drivers kept the action close to Luce for most of the night's biggest race before the 2015 Oxford 250 champion pulled away from the competition during the event's closing laps.

Jeff Taylor of Farmington, who won the previous week's main event, drove from 12th starting position to a second-place finish in the caution-free, non-stop race. It was the third straight top-three finish for the nine-time Oxford Plains Speedway track champion.

Two-time Super Late Model track champion TJ Brackett of Buckfield earned third-place honors. Rusty Poland of Windham raced with the leaders throughout the 50-lapper and crossed the finish line in fourth position. Ryan Deane of Winterport was fifth under the checkered flag, posting his fourth straight top-five finish.

Kurt Hewins of Leeds led all 30 laps en route to his first win of the season in the Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Street Stock division. Hewins, who is closing in on the 50 career win mark at Oxford Plains Speedway, held off a determined Jordan Russell to post the victory.

Russell, of Norway, settled for runner-up honors, with reigning champion and current points leader Matt Dufault of Turner third. Billy Childs, Jr. of Leeds was fourth, followed by Leeds native Kyle Hewins, now calling Oxford home.

Matthew Kimball of Bennington, New Hampshire won his first-ever North East Mini Stock Tour race in a special, 50-lap test Saturday night. Kimball outran NEMST points leader Jimmy Childs of Leeds to the checkered flag. Childs, who won the NEMST points opener last month at Oxford Plains Speedway, unofficially remains atop the series' rankings. Massachusetts racer Jarrod Soucy was third, followed by Granite Staters Jacob Rheaume and Matt Boucher.

Chad Wills nailed down his first victory this season in the 20-lap main event for Bandits division competitors. Wills, a hometown racer, outran reigning champion Dustin Salley of Mechanic Falls to the checkered flag. Tyler Green claimed the third-place trophy, finishing ahead of Auburn's Josh Dube and 'The Tornado,' Travis Verrill of South Paris.

Kyle Kilgore of South Paris drove from last starting position to victory lane in the Figure 8 race to claim his second consecutive victory. Charlie 'Chachy' Hall of Oxford led the first half of the race and earned runner-up honors. Greg Durgin of South Paris held off Dale Lawrence of Minot for the third-place trophy. Poland's Larry Lizotte rounded out the top five.

Owen Stuart of Naples earned his first victory of the year in the 15-lap Rookie feature race. Stuart held off a determined challenge by Brady Childs of Leeds to post the victory. Stuart's win snapped a three-race winning streak for Childs. Sophie Green of South Paris was third, followed by Maddy Herrick of Norway.
